Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Talk it Out collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email hello@talkitoutclub.com.

For a shorter summary of how we handle safety and your data, see Safety and privacy.

Who we are

Talk it Out is provided by Camino TC Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14583296), registered office 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here, and we are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZB588953).

Talk it Out is an app for talking things through with an AI companion. It is not a medical service or a crisis service, and no person reads your conversations as they happen.

What we collect

Your account

  • Your email address, or the identifier Apple provides if you sign in with Apple
  • The name you choose to use — it does not need to be your real name

What you tell the app

  • Your conversations with the AI companion (open, journal and check-in entries)
  • Photos you attach to a conversation
  • Your answers to the questions we ask when you join — for example your age range, gender, occupation, relationship status, what you are finding hard, whether you have had therapy, what you want from the app, and how you heard about us
  • Feedback you send us from inside the app

What the app remembers about you

So that the companion can pick up where you left off, the app uses AI to note down facts and themes from your conversations — for example the people in your life and what you are working through — and uses them in later conversations. These notes are stored with your account and are deleted with it.

How you use the app

  • Usage events — for example which screens you open — and your time zone, so reminders arrive at the right time of day
  • A notification token for your device, if you allow notifications
  • Crash and error reports, which can include your device model, operating system version and the state of the app when it failed
  • Whether you have a subscription, and its status. We never see your card or payment details — Apple handles payment

How we use it, and our legal basis

  • To provide the app — generating replies, analysis, insights, sessions and reminders, and remembering context between conversations. Basis: our contract with you, and your explicit consent for sensitive information.
  • To keep the service working and safe — fixing errors, preventing misuse, and showing crisis-line information when, for example, a message mentions suicide.
  • To improve the app — understanding how features are used and what helps people. Basis: our legitimate interests.
  • To manage subscriptions and keep financial records. Basis: our contract with you, and our legal obligations.

We do not sell your information, we do not show advertising in the app, and we do not use your conversations to advertise to you. Your data is not used to train AI models.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run Talk it Out. Each processes information only on our instructions and for the purpose listed.

  • Google Cloud (Europe). Your conversations and journal entries are stored in Google Cloud's European region.
  • OpenAI (United States). Under OpenAI's terms for its API, information we send is not used to train its models.
  • Apple — payments, and sign-in if you use Sign in with Apple.
  • RevenueCat (United States) — manages subscription status.
  • PostHog (European Union) — product analytics.
  • Sentry (United States) — crash and error reporting.
  • Expo (United States) — delivers push notifications.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and everything you have told the app until you delete your account. When you do, we delete your conversations, entries, recordings, photos and the notes the app has made about you. We keep a record of subscription purchases, because we are required to keep financial records — it identifies the purchase, not anything you wrote. Full details are on our data removal page.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct it
  • delete it — you can delete your account in the app under Settings, or use our data removal page
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
  • ask for it in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time

To use any of these rights, email hello@talkitoutclub.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Talk it Out is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child under 13 is using Talk it Out, please email hello@talkitoutclub.com.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit between your device, our servers and our providers, and also encrypted at rest.

Our website

This website uses PostHog to record page views and clicks on our App Store and Google Play links. PostHog on this website does not identify visitors, record sessions, or store identifiers in cookies or browser storage.

Our gift pages (talkitoutclub.com/give) also use the Meta pixel, which sets cookies and sends Meta information about your visit to those pages, so that we can measure our advertising. It does not run anywhere else on this website. See Meta's privacy policy.

Android Waitlist

Talk it Out is currently available on iPhone. On some of our pages you can choose to leave an email address to be told when an Android version is available. Giving us your email address there is entirely optional — the page works the same if you leave the field empty.

If you do leave it:

  • We store the email address, together with which page and which social account the request came from and the date, in our Firebase database.
  • We use it for one purpose only: to email you once when an Android version is available. We do not add it to a marketing list, and we do not share or sell it.
  • You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing hello@talkitoutclub.com. We will also delete the whole list once the Android version has shipped and everyone on it has been told.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when what we do changes, and post the new version on this page. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you in the app.

This policy is effective as of 10 September 2026
